SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team saw their four game winning streak end on Tuesday as they fell 79-44 to No. 3 ranked Drury. The loss drops the Cardinals to 11-10 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals got off to a good start, leading 7-6 after a layup by Ainsley Tolson midway through the first quarter. The Panthers closed the period on a 14-2 run to lead 20-9 after 10 minutes.
- A Rachel Schon bucket early in the second quarter to pulled the Cardinals back within nine but Drury outscored Jewell 24-7 over the remainder of the half.
- The Cardinals played nearly evenly with the Panthers, being outscored just 15-13 in the third period, led by four points from Claire Burch.
- Jewell was held to 27% from the field in the final quarter as Drury extended their lead to the final.
FOR THE CARDINALS
- Burch led the Cardinals with 12 points and two steals while Kiara Bradley added eight and a team high four rebounds.
- Sydney Offield added three assists.
- The Cardinals were held to 32% from the floor and just 2-of-19 from three point land.
FOR THE PANTHERS
- Paige Robinson led Drury with a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds to go along with five assists.
- The Panthers shot 51% from the field and won the battle on the glass 44-26.
