Cardinals Rally for Senior Day Win

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team earned an important win on Saturday with a 72-66 victory over crosstown rival Rockhurst. The win was the home finale for seven seniors and ensured a postseason berth as Jewell finished the regular season winning seven of their last nine.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The tewo teams back-and-forth in the first quarter as a three from Annemarie Boeh tied the game at 10 just over four minutes in.
  • Rockhurst found some rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 24-16 after shooting 60% from the floor. With Jewell leading 26-25, the Hawks went on a 12-0 run to go on top by 11. A bucket by Macyn Wilbers and two free throws from Sydney Offield made it an eight point deficit at the half.
  • Neither team scored for nearly three minutes to start the third quarter before Bailey Russell broke the ice with two foul shots. The Cardinals opened the second half on a 11-3 run, capped by a triple from Russell, to tie the game at 42.
  • Two free throws by Offield finally got Jewell over the hump as they took their first lead since the opening quarter at 52-51 with 7:49 to play. The Cardinals pushed their lead to as many as 10 on their way to the 72-66 win.
FOR THE CARDINALS
  • Kiara Bradley led the Cardinals with a monster game of 25 points and a career-best 15 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.
  • Offield also finished in double-figures with 12 points while dishing out eight assists.
  • As a team, Jewell shot 40% from the floor and 36% from three.

FOR THE HAWKS
  • Daly Sullivan led three Hawks in double figures with 16 while Monika Faerber finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
