Drury's Late Goals Sink Cardinals in Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team opened the 2020-2021 season on Friday night at Drury. The Cardinals fell 2-0 on two second half goals by the Panthers. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell got off just one shot in the opening 45 minutes but was able to hold the Panthers scoreless on six attempts. 
  • Jayd Hamdaoua broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 59th minute before adding a second in the 65th minute. 

FOR THE CARDINALS
  • The Cardinals totaled four shots with one on goal by Ethan Nichols. 
  • Eli Gratz made three saves in his first career game. 

FOR THE PANTHERS
  • Drury finished with 13 shots, five on goal. 
  • Adem Hamdaoua and Matheus Cunha each had one assist.

Jewell is back on the road on Sunday as they travel to Rolla, Mo. for a matchup with MIssouri S&T
