ROLLA, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team recorded a 1-1 draw at Missouri S&T on Sunday afternoon on the road. The tie moves the Cardinals to 0-1-1 on the young season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the 38th minute, Carson Lee sent a pass to the middle where freshman Ethan Nichols slide under to push the ball past a defender and the keeper and put Jewell on top first.  
• The Miners wasted little time responding, scoring less than three minutes later on a goal by Paal Benum in the 41st minute. 
• Jewell had a shot on goal, off a free kick by Chris Cotton in the 81st minute, but the Miner keeper was able to corral it and force the extra time. 
• Missouri S&T got off four shots in the first overtime period compared to one by the Cardinals and neither got off an attempt in the second to end in a draw. 

FOR THE CARDINALS

• Jewell was limited to five shots with three on goal, led by two shots from Lee. 
• Nichols scored his first career goal while Lee grabbed his first assist.
• Eli Gratz totaled six saves, playing all 110 minutes in goal. 

FOR THE MINERS

• Missouri S&T finished with 14 shots, half on goal, led by Jason Jorgensen's four. 
• Michael Sallee came off the bench to post two saves.
