ROLLA, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team earned a split with Missouri S&T on Tuesday afternoon on the road, taking game one 8-6 before falling 7-1 in the nightcap. 
GAME ONE
Jewell 8, Missouri S&T 6
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- The scoring started early as Sabrina Olmo singled to right and came around to score on an RBI groundout by Allison Rawls. The Miners tied the game with a run on two hits and a Cardinal error in the bottom half of the opening inning. 
- Lauren Ledbetter led off the second frame with a double to right before scoring on an infield single off the bat of Olmo to put Jewell back in front, 2-1. 
- In the following inning, the Cardinals poured on four hits on three hits on RBI by Tori Farr, Sophia Lopez, Chloe Murphy and Abby Vandiver to make it a 6-1 Cardinal advantage. 
- The Miners rallied in the fourth, scoring four runs on six hits to pull within one, 6-5. 
- Rawls gave Jewell an important insurance run, scoring Olmo on a single to right field. Missouri S&T also scored on a sac fly in the bottom of the inning but still trailed by one. 
- Jewell got a final run in the top of the seventh as Lopez was able to cross the plate on an error by the catcher.   
FOR THE CARDINALS
	- Jewell posted a season-high 12 hits, led by Olmo's three. Farr, Ledbetter and Vandiver also added two a piece. 
- Rawls finished with two RBI. 
- Kenzie Jones (1-5) earned the win, working 3.1 innings. Sammie Welt earned her first career save, tossing the final 3.1 frames, striking out four. 
FOR THE MINERS
	- Missouri S&T finished with 13 total hits, led by four players with two each. 
- Maddy Passolano posted two hits and two runs while Taylor Caton had three RBI. 
- Kate Baxter took the loss, allowed one earned run over two innings. 
GAME TWO
Jewell 1, Missouri S&T 7
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Missouri S&T scored first in game two with a run in the bottom of the first on two hits. 
- The Miners added two runs in the third frame, one in the fourth, and one in the fifth to open a 5-0 lead. 
- The Cardinals got on the board in the top of the sixth as Rawls singled and scored on a throwing error. 
- MST added two runs in the bottom of the frame to bring the score to the final of 7-1. 
FOR THE CARDINALS
	- Jewell was limited to five hits, all by different players. 
- Welt (0-2) took the loss, allowing four earned runs over three innings. 
FOR THE MINERS
	- The Miners had nine hits, led by two each from Bryn Wooldridge and Chloe Saltijera. 
- Wooldridge earned the win, working six innings without allowing an earned run. 
UP NEXT
Jewell will return home for the first time in more than a year on Saturday as they host Maryville at 12 p.m. Saturday will also serve as Senior Day for fourth year players Rawls and Farr.
