LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team used three early goals to grab a big lead over Southern Indiana and held off the Screaming Eagles late in the match to secure a 3-2 win and move to 2-4-1 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals jumped in front early as Alex Thiessen scored in the fourth minute off a feed from Ethan Jayaram from three yards out. 
• In the 20th minute, Carson Lee scored his first goal of the season from the right side before breaking away for a second score less than six minutes later to put Jewell on top 3-0 after just 26 minutes.  
• The Screaming Eagles got one back before the break, with a goal in the 29th minute by Sam Benoist. 
• USI made things interesting down the stretch, scoring again in the 75th minute but the Cardinals were able to hold off the Eagles over the final minutes. 

FOR THE CARDINALS

• Jewell took only four shots on the game, scoring three times and were led by Lee with three shots, including two goals. 
• Jayaram, Cole Bulgren-Slack and Ethan Nichols all recorded assists. 
• Eli Gratz finished with five saves. 

FOR THE SCREAMING EAGLES

• USI got off 15 shots, led by Zach Bartons' three, with eight on target.
