Volleyball Looks to Carry Momentum into Rockhurst, Drury

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team is back in action this weekend for two single matches on Friday at Rockhurst and Saturday at Drury.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewell is coming off a split last weekend as they earned their first win over Illinois Springfield in a 3-0 sweep.  
  • Over the weekend, Elizabeth Quinn asserted herself as Jewell's NCAA era blocks queen, breaking Christina Pratt's seven-year-old record with her 311th career block. The senior also owns the marks for career block assists, total blocks, block assists and blocks per set in a single season and total blocks in a match. 
  • Setter Hannah Cope enters the week averaging 6.17 assists per set which is ninth in the GLVC. The sophomore has posted a team-high four double-doubles this year. 
  • Haidan Baade posted her ninth straight game with double-digit digs on Tuesday against Missouri S&T, and her 12th of the season. The sophomore is currently sixth in the conference with 4.70 digs per set and is second with 268 overall. 
  • Maddie Wingert surpassed the 800 mark for her career with her fifth kill against Missouri-St. Louis last weekend. The senior now owns 804 career kills, just 65 off the NCAA-era record, held by Kaylee Marquardt
 
ABOUT ROCKHURST 
  • Rockhurst, a traditional powerhouse, enters the weekend at 7-6 overall and winners of their previous two matches over Maryville and Illinois Springfield but have not played since March 13. 
  • Freshman Kenzie Hines leads the offense with 2.39 kills per set while Justice Wingate is ninth in the GLVC with a .301 attack percentage. 
  • Dani Prusha and Gabbie Inman have split setting duties, accounting for 5.14 and 4.67 assists per set, respectively. 
  • Defensively, Morgan Conner is one of the GLVC's top blockers, coming in at No. 3 in the league with 1.27 per set. Sophomore libero Jadyn Makovicka is tenth in the conference with 4.02 digs per set. 
  • Trent Jones is in his first season with the Hawks, after spending nine years as Kansas City, spending the last six as the associate head coach.  

ABOUT DRURY
  • The Panthers come into the week at 7-7 overall and have split their last six matches, 3-3, including a win over No. 13 Southern Indiana. 
  • As a team, Drury is second in the GLVC with 2.48 blocks per set, led by Makina Wratten's 1.03.
  • Chloe Rear leads the offensive attack with a 3.48 kills per set, good enough for third in the GLVC while also adding 0.35 service aces per set. 
  • Libero Kayla Allison boasts 4.46 digs per set which is eighth in the league. 
  • Head coach Jenifer Bahner is now in her seventh season at the helm of the Panther program and owns more than 120 wins, including an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018.
