Berman Scores First Goal in Loss at Lewis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The William Jewell men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference decision on Friday at Lewis. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lewis converted a penalty kick by Domenic Baumann in the 13th minute to take an early lead. 
  • The Flyers added two more goals in the 60th and 75th minutes. 
  • Freshman Trey Berman scored his first career goal in the 89th minute to help the Cardinals avoid the shutout. Berman got a pass from Bennett Williams, beating his defender and scoring from 10 yards out. 

FOR THE CARDINALS
  • The Cardinals attempted just two shots, one by Berman and the other by Alex Thiessen. 
  • Eli Gratz had five saves. 

FOR THE FLYERS
  • Jimmy Mwanga finished with a match-high four shots. 
  • Baumann finished with four points, scoring once and assisting on the other goals.

UP NEXT
William Jewell is off on Sunday after a cancelation at Illinois Springfield. The Cardinals will be back at home on Thursday as they host Quincy at 7:30 p.m.
