LIBERTY, Mo. – The William Jewell men's soccer team hosted Senior Day on Sunday and honored their 10 soon-to-be graduates with a big 2-0 win over Lindenwood. The Cardinals move to 1-2-1 on the year with the victory.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell wasted no time jumping out in front as senior Alex Thiessen scored his first goal of the season in the ninth minute. After the keeper saved a shot by Noah Espinosa, Thiessen snuck the ball past a diving Lion defender to put the Cardinals on top.  
• In the 69^th minute two freshmen teamed up to add an insurance goal as Ethan Nichols beat his defender before putting a cross into the box where Ethan Jayaram was waiting for the header.  

 
FOR THE CARDINALS

• The Cardinals outshot Lindenwood, 9-2, led by two each from Nichols and Jayaram.
• Along with Nichols, Espinosa was credited with an assist.
• Six different Jewell players had at least one shot on goal.  

 
FOR THE LIONS

• Lindenwood was held to just two shots, one in each half, by Jose de Gregorio and Gabriel Herrera. 
• Keeper Jasko Smajic had six saves.
