Late Goal Gives Cardinals Senior Day Draw

LIBERTY, Mo. – The William Jewell women's soccer team got a goal in the final minutes of regulation to tie the game and force overtime on Sunday against Lindenwood. The game ended in a draw as Jewell moves to 0-2-2 on the season. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell got on the board early as Kayla Crowder headed in a corner kick from Lexy Hawkins in the ninth minute. 
  • Just under six minutes later, in the 15th minute, Lindenwood tied things up with a rebound off a corner kick shot attempt by Bailey Bologna. 
  • The Lions took the lead in the 67th minute as Maggie Weller made her way around the Jewell defense to score. 
  • With less than four minutes to go in regulation Hawkins took the quick pass from Crowder for a shot that skipped past the keeper after contact and into the goal to tie the game. 
  • The Cardinals were able to get three looks in the second overtime but could not convert to end in a draw. 
 
FOR THE CARDINALS
  • Hawkins finished with five shots, three on goal with an assist. Crowder had the other assist with three shots. 
  • Katie Pohl added four shots, two on goal. 
  • Sophomore keeper Katie Wagenheim collected a career-high 10 saves. 
 
FOR THE LIONS
  • Maggie Weller had a game-high nine shots to lead Lindenwood. 
  • The Lions outshot the Cardinals, 28-16. 
 
UP NEXT
Jewell is back in action on Friday as they travel to Missouri-St. Louis at 5 p.m.
