LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team suffered two losses to Southern Indiana on Monday in GLVC action. The Cardinals fell 14-4 and 3-2 to drop to 8-22 on the season and 7-11 in GLVC play.
GAME ONE
Jewell 4, Southern Indiana 14
HOW IT HAPPENED
- USI got on the board first in the opener with a solo home run in the top half of the first inning and added another run in the following frame.
- The Eagles plated four runs in the top of the fourth to open up a six run advantage.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Jewell rallied scoring four runs on five hits and two USI miscues. With two in scoring position, Tori Farr, Hailey Wall and Abby Dubinski all singled to cut the deficit in half. Two errors on the same play allowed another run to cross the plate and bring the Cards within two.
- Southern Indiana exploded for eight runs on 10 hits in the fifth inning to take the opener.

Jewell 2, Southern Indiana 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In game two, it was the Cardinals who scored first with a solo bomb by Ledbetter in the bottom of the second inning.
- The Eagles quickly responded with a solo home run of their own.
- In the third, Sophia Lopez singled and scored on a throwing error to put Jewell back in front.
- USI tied the game with an RBI by Alicia Webb in the fifth before scoring the winning run on a bases loaded walk in the following frame.
FOR THE CARDINALS
- Jewell was held to four hits, by Ledbetter, Wall, Lopez and Sabrina Olmo, who also swiped two bases.
- Kenzie Jones (2-9) suffered the loss, striking out three over seven innings.
UP NEXT
Jewell hits the road this weekend as they travel to Lewis on Saturday by a stop at Illinois Springfield on Sunday.
