CARDINAL NOTES
- Jewell is coming of a 0-1-1 week that saw them post a touch 1-1 draw with Missouri Southern before opening non-conference play with a 1-0 loss to Southwest Baptist.
- The Cardinals are struggled as of late offensively, scoring their first goal on Thursday by Paige Liston but have seen improvement over the last few games as the team posted a season-high five shots on goal on Sunday against SBU. Despite the low goal total, Jewell is eighth in the GLVC with 11.25 shots per game, led by Clara Fronabarger's 2.50. The freshman's 10 total shots, is tied for sixth in the conference.
- Kaylie Kappelmann has started three of four games in goal, totaling 27 saves, tops in the GLVC, along with a save percentage of .900. The senior is averaging more than five more saves that her conference counterparts and is inching closer to Jewell's NCAA era career record.
- Jewell was picked 14th in the GLVC preseason poll, just ahead of Southwest Baptist. McKendree was predicted to win the league title with Southern Indiana, Rockhurst and Drury also receiving first place votes.
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
- The Miners enter the week at 1-2 on the season after dropping their GLVC opener to Quincy, 4-3.
- Despite the record, Missouri S&T is dangerous offensively, averaging two goals per game, tied for third best in the GLVC. Sydney Gratz has two goals on a team high 11 shots, which is second in the league, while four other players have also scored once.
- Kristin Steins has been the primary keeper for the Miners, starting two games and posting 10 saves, but has allowed six goals. Viktoria Johnson has also played in two games with five saves.
- Joe McCauley enters his 11th season at the head of the Miner program, leading the program to a berth in the GLVC Tournament final in 2014.
ABOUT DRURY
- Drury enters the week after getting off to a hot start to 2021, winning three of four games. The Panthers are averaging 1.25 goals per game while holding their opponents to a GLVC-best 0.25 per outing.
- Alyssa Ramos leads the way with three shots per game, tied for fourth in the conference as five different players have scored one goal. Elsa Gonzalez is tops on the team with two assists.
- In goal, the Panthers have used three different players, but Kaitlin Kentzke has started all four games. She leads the staff with nine saves and a .900 save percentage.
- Justin Olson took over the Drury program in January 2020 and led the team to a 5-6-3 record during the spring season.
