MARSHALL, Mo. - The William Jewell women's tennis team earned a win in their season opener, 6-1, over Missouri Valley. After struggling with injuries and limited rosters in recent seasons, this is the Cardinals first win since April 2019. 

After dropping the opening doubles match, the No. 2 and 3 secured the doubles point with 6-4 and 6-2 wins. Jewell continued rolling with wins at No. 3, 1, 4 and 5 singles to officially defeat the Vikings. Four Cardinals, Gwyn Gifford, Maisie Markowitz, Katie Boyd and Maggie Shocklee earned their first career wins.
