CARDINAL NOTES
  • The Cardinals are coming off a tough opening week of conference play that saw them face No. 22 Rockhurst and No. 15 Lewis. Jewell has faced a challenging open to the season with five of the first 10 opponents being listed in the national poll.
  • Lily Johnson and Bella LaPorta lead the way offensively for the Cardinals with 2.28 and 2.03 kills per set, respectively. The senior and the freshman have accounted for 153 of Jewell's 405 kills and nearly 35 percent of total attacks. Johnson is also tops with 0.86 blocks per set, including eight solos which places her just outside the top-15 in the NCAA era with two-thirds of the season remaining.
  • Samantha Thompson has appeared in all 10 matches early in her freshman season and is up to 5.03 assists per set, 13th in the GLVC. Hannah Cope sits at 14th with 4.88.
  • McKinzie Thompson leads the team and is 10th in the league with 12 aces, on an average of 0.43 per set.
  • Jordan Collard has been the Cardinal's libero for all 37 sets this fall and averages 3.86 digs per set which puts her eighth in the GLVC, just behind Truman's Molly McGurn.

ABOUT QUINCY
  • Quincy enters the week at 3-7 overall, 0-2 in league play after dropping their last three matches. The Hawks opened GLVC action with No. 15 Lewis and Missouri-St. Louis last week, falling 3-0 and 3-1.
  • Libero America Galvan enters the week ranked fourth in the GLVC with 4.19 digs per set as the Hawks are sixth as a team with more than 14.6.
  • Leading the offense is Emily Rehagen with her 3.22 kills per set, good enough for sixth in the GLVC. Teammate Mattie Norris is not far behind with 3.06 as the pair account for more than 51% of the offensive production.
  • Returning All-GLVC setter Makayla Knoblough runs the show, with her 9.57 assists per set, second best in the GLVC.
  • At the net, the Hawks are 10th in the conference with 1.78 blocks per set, just in front of Jewell. Elizabeth Lightner is ninth in the league with 1.00.
  • Quincy is led by third year head coach Mark Jones after guiding the Hawks to a 15-7 mark with three All-GLVC performers last spring.

ABOUT MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS
  • Missouri-St. Louis comes into the weekend with a 7-3 mark and winners of their last four, including sweeping the opening week of GLVC action with wins over Illinois Springfield and Quincy.
  • The strength of the Tritons lies along the back row as senior libero Megan Woll, already the school's all-time digs leader, leads the conference and ranks 11th nationally with 5.74 digs per set, pushing UMSL to the top spot in Division II with 20.50 per set as a team.
  • Former All-American Charlotte Richards is the primary target offensively, leading the nation with 14.47 attacks per set, and is third in the country with an average of 4.89 kills.
  • In addition to digs, the Tritons are superb elsewhere on defense, allowing opponents to hit just .137, second best in the GLVC, to go along with 1.84 blocks per set.
  • Ryan Young has built a strong program at UMSL, now in his 11th season as head coach, with more than 180 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament during that stretch.
