Johnson Scores First Goal as Cardinals Fall at Maryville

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The William Jewell women's soccer team took an early lead on Sunday at Maryville but the Saints rallied with two goals in the second half to down the Cardinals. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell got on the board first as Clara Fronabarger sent a cross to the opposite side of the box where Alex Johnson headed it in for the 1-0 lead in the eighth minute. 
  • Maryville tied things up in the 52nd minute before taking the lead just over 10 minutes later. 
  • The Cardinals got off one more shot by Fronabarger but missed high. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Johnson scored her first goal as a Cardinal while the freshman Fronabarger got her first career assist.

Jewell returns home on Friday as they host McKendree at 5 p.m.
