ROLLA, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team downed Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon on the road by a final of 75-65. The Cardinals, who won their third straight and seven of their last eight, move to 9-6 on the season, 5-2 in the GLVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jewell got off to a sluggish start, falling behind by ten early, 15-5, and going nearly six minutes without scoring. Jevaughn Ferguson came off the bench and put up an offensive rebound, put back, to spark a 17-0 run and go on top 24-17.
- The Miners got back within three but a John Zimmerman three with just under 90 seconds left in the half put the Cards on top 36-29 at the break.
- Roles were reversed in the second half, as it was the Miners were got off to the slow start and Jewell took advantage, expanding their lead to 18 after a traditional three-point play by Trey Shannon.
- While Missouri S&T was able to cut the lead to 11 with under 10 minutes to play, the Cardinals followed with a 14-6 run, capped by a three from Kobe McKinley, to open up their largest lead of the day at 19.
- The Miners took advantage of some late offensive rebounds to cut the score to 10 but could get no closer.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jermain was unstoppable for most of the day, scoring a career high 30 points, and hitting 7-of-13 from three point land, tying an NCAA era single game record.
- McKinley came off the bench to score 13 while Grant Stubbs added 10 points and six rebounds.

Jewell will return home on Monday for a showdown with Southwest Baptist with first place in the GLVC West on the line. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
