SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team opened 2022 on Sunday on the road at one of the nation's top opponents, Drury University. The Cardinals dropped a 90-42 decision to fall to 1-8 on the season, 0-3 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a quick 5-0 hole, the Cardinals got back-to-back buckets from Lea Finn and Katelynn Ostronic to pull within one. Drury finished the opening quarter on a 15-2 run to open up a 14-point advantage. 
• Jewell played nearly evenly with the Panthers in quarter two, being outscored by just three, 19-16. Katie Knock scored 10 points in the frame, including a triple just before the halftime buzzer, to pull the Cardinals within 39-22 at the break. 
• Drury came out of the intermission on fire, outscoring the Cards 29-14 in the third period to break things open and never looked back on their way to the win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Knock poured in a career-high 17 points on 5-of-6 from the field, to go with a team-best seven rebounds, one steal and one block. 
• D'Asya Collier-Williams added nine points, four rebounds and three assists.
