INSIDE THE SERIES
  • The Cardinals are 7-6 against Illinois Springfield since joining in the GLVC in 2011, having swept the last two meetings.
  • Jewell is 5-13 against the Hawks of Quincy and looking for their first win since 2018.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewel is coming off a 3-0 weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover where they defeated Lake Erie, Lake Superior and Malone.
  • Alex Dvorak is the reigning GLVC Defensive Player of the Week after posting 15 blocks and 11 digs to go with 21 kills and three aces. This is the first weekly honor for the Cardinals since joining the league and Dvorak becomes the first freshman chosen since 2019 across the conference.
  • With three weeks remaining, Jewell has totaled 119 service aces, sixth most in the NCAA era, surpassing the 2017 and 2013 squads. Samantha Thompson is ninth in the league with 28, surpassing Alix Weigel (2016) for seventh in a single season. The sophomore southpaw put up a career high six against Lake Superior State to set a four-set match record.
  • Bella LaPorta continues to be productive offensively, coming into the week with 313 total kills, second in the GLVC behind only UMSL's Charlotte Richards (314). LaPorta's total puts her just outside the top three in the Jewell's NCAA era while her 3.33 kills per set is seventh in the conference and on pace to finish second in a single season.
  • Dvorak has upped her season blocks total to 95, the most by a freshman in the NCAA era, and good for second in the conference. Her 1.07 average per set is fifth, while Tatum Ernt is 13th at 0.85. As a team, the Cardinals are sixth in the league averaging just under two rejections per set.
