Jewell Earns 2-2 Draw at McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. - The William Jewell men's soccer team finished in a 2-2 draw at McKendree to move to 2-2-3 on the season and in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • McKendree took an early lead, socring in the 14th minute but Jewell rallied right back as Ethan Nichols tied things up 12 minutes later, on a feed from Walker Bond. 
  • Cole Bulgren converted a penalty kick in the 30th minute to quickly swing things in favor of the Cardinals, 2-1, at the break.
  • The Bearcats opened the second half with the second goal of the day from Stephan Stuebbe, to tie the game 39 seconds into the half. 
  • The teams combined for 10 additional shots in the second half but neither could convert as the match ended in a draw. 

KEY STATS
  • Jewell was outshot 22-7 but six of the seven shots were on goal, led by two from Carson Lee. 
  • Jose Arellano posted a career best 12 saves, second most in a single game in the NCAA era.

Jewell is back at Greene Stadium next weekend, hosting Lewis on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
