Women's Soccer to Host Lewis on Friday, UIndy for Senior Day

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's soccer team returns home for the final time this season to host Lewis University on Friday evening followed by Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon.

THE SERIES
  • Jewell has seen success against Lewis in the NCAA era, going 5-7 since 2011, but have dropped the last four. Despite two early goals last season, the Cardinals fell 5-2. 
  • The Cardinals are 3-7-1 against the strong program at Indianapolis but are looking for their first win since 2015 after dropping a 4-0 decision last year. 

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Corrine Hughes continues to rank among the best scorers in the league, sitting second with six goals and 13 total points this season. Her six scores is tied for fifth in a single season in the NCAA era and marks the most by a Cardinal since 2018. 
  • Kate Lawrence is one of nine players across the GLVC to boast three assists this season and lead the league. The Cardinals nine assists are fourth most amongst league teams. 
  • Katie Wagenheim is third in the conference with 39 total saves this season while Emily Glassman made her season debut last weekend after recovering from injury and posted a career best 14 stops against McKendree. As a team, Jewell leads the GLVC with 7.82 saves per game. 
  • The offense has improved from last year as the Cardinals have already surpassed season totals in goals (11) and shots on goal (55) and are closing in on the total shots number from 2021 already attempting 109 this fall. 
  • On Sunday, the Cardinals will honor six seniors including including Hughes, Wagenheim, Paige Liston, Jayme Coon, Caroline Staebell and Carolyn Schneck during Senior Day festivities which will take place between the men's and women's contests.
