THE SERIES
The Cardinals are 1-8 all-time against Indianapolis with the series starting in 2012 when Jewell joined the GLVC. The Cards will be searching for their first win since 2014 when they handed UIndy their first-ever conference loss (GLVC).

CARDINAL NOTES

  • Saturday's game marks the final home contest for Jewell's 11 seniors. The Cardinals will recognize Marquis Whitmire, Camron Walker, Jesse Thomas, Winston Quinn, Carlos Lopez, Grant Latina, Tarayton Kalkai, Cole Hon, Brandon Homan, Bart Harris and Carson Anderson prior to kick off.
  • Jordan Clay put on a show at Lindenwood last weekend, running for 151 yards, the fifth most by a Cardinal in the NCAA era. The sophomore is up to seventh in the GLVC with 406 yards and 58 per game this fall.
  • The offensive line shined last week, opening lanes for Clay, Taylor Eggers and Chris Collier-Surly to run for a season high 248 yards.  Additionally, the line did not allow a sack which hasn't occurred since 2019. The Cardinals are seventh in the GLVC in sacks allowed, but have cut that number nearly in half from last season.
  • In addition to Senior Day, Saturday's game also marks another significant ending as it will be the final game played in Greene Stadium. Completed in 1955 it has served as the home of the Cardinals for the past 67 seasons but following the conclusion of this fall, construction will begin on The Link Project which will include among its features a new amphitheater style stadium as well as an indoor arena, locker room and coaches spaces, athletic training room and student fitness center. The $20 million campaign was matched this summer and the ceremonial ground breaking took place on homecoming weekend.
  • The ball movement down field was much improved last weekend at Lindenwood, where the Cardinals posted 465 yards of total offense with 19 first downs, compared to just eight the previous week. When Jewell gets into the red zone they have been hard to stop, scoring better than 85% of the time, fourth best in the GLVC.
  • Jewell made a late season change at quarterback last week as Taylor Eggers got the start, the first of his career. The redshirt sophomore finished with 207 passing yards and two touchdowns on 18-of-35 attempts, along with 90 rushing yards.
  • Adam Callahan posted 10 tackles last weekend to up his season total to 81 for an average of nine per game, second best in the GLVC, behind only Quincy's Peyten Chappel, and 27th nationally. Sean Mitchell is also in the top-4 with 8.3 per outing after a season high 13 at Lindenwood.
  • Paul Geelen put his name in the record book again last week, knocking in a 49-yard field goal on the Cardinals opening drive. The kick is the longest by a Jewell freshman in the NCAA era, surpassing Josh Click's 48-yarder from a year ago. The mark is also third overall in the NCAA era and fourth longest in the GLVC this season.
  • For the second time this season, Marquis Whitmire found the end zone as a passer, connecting with Jesse Thomas on a 10-yard touchdown. This is the first time in the NCAA era that a non-quarterback has thrown for multiple touchdowns in the same season.
