KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team wrapped up the 2022 season with a 3-0 loss at Rockhurst University. The Cardinals finish the season at 13-15, marking the most wins since 2012. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Tied at five early, the Hawks went on 5-0 run to go on top. Rockhurst did not relinquish their lead, taking the opener 25-18. 
• RU took a 17-8 lead in set two and rolled to a 25-14 victory to go up by two sets. 
• Jewell took the early lead in set three, 5-3, after a kill by Bella LaPorta. The Hawks went on a 9-2 run midway through to take an 18-13 advantage. The Cardinals got back within four after a kill from Alex Dvorak and a Rockhurst error, but the Hawks won four of the last five points to win 25-18.  

KEY STATS

• LaPorta finished with a team high 13 kills with eight digs. 
• Haidan Baade had a match-high 17 digs and one ace while Samantha Thompson picked up 16 assists. 

The Cardinals will graduate five players, including Baade, Tatum Ernt, Kaci Behrens, Meghan Schneider and Hannah Cope but return a bulk of the offensive output.
