EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The William Jewell softball team ran into one of the hottest teams in the GLVC on Sunday at Southern Indiana, dropping both ends of a doubleheader, 7-1 and 5-0. The Cardinals fall to 10-22 on the season, 4-11 in the GLVC.
GAME ONE: Jewell 1, Southern Indiana 7
HOW IT HAPPENED
- USI jumped out to a 7-0 lead through four innings.
- The Cardinals broke up a no-hitter in the sixth as Kenzie Jones walked and scored on an RBI double from Allison Rawls.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Rawls had the only hit for the Cards who also got two walks from Abby Dubinski.
- Kenzie Jones (5-7) took the loss, allowing five earned runs on seven hits. Sammie Welt worked the final three innings, striking out three and giving up one run.
GAME TWO: Jewell 0, Southern Indiana 5
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Screaming Eagles scored three early runs and added two more in the fifth for the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Sabrina Olmo and Kolbee Kealoha had the lone hits for Jewell, with the latter posting a double.
- Sydney Parra (1-3) suffered the loss, working six innings, and allowing one earned run with four strikeouts.

Jewell is back in action next weekend as they host Illinois Springfield on Saturday at the Urban Youth Academy.
