ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team saw their season come to a close on Friday morning with a 12-6 loss to Lewis University in the second round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The Cardinals finish the season with an overall record of 30-21, their most wins since 2016. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Lewis came out of the gate quickly scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Jewell got on the board with two runs on three hits in the second frame. 
• The Flyers added three runs in the third but a Cole Conner RBI single through the left side got one back for the Cardinals. 
• Lewis scored two in the fourth and fifth to jump on top by seven but Conner came through again with another two RBI base hit to cut the lead in half, 10-5.
• Trailing 12-5 in the top of the ninth, Alex Epp singled through the right side to score Anthony Hansen but Jewell could get no closer.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Conner finished 3-for-5 with three RBI while Cameron Fliege scored twice. 
• Reed Pegram (3-4) took the loss allowing three earned runs with two strikeouts.
