The William Jewell women's soccer team continues their three game home stand this weekend, hosting Drury on Friday night and Southwest Baptist on Sunday afternoon.Â
Series History
Jewell and maintains the series lead over Drury in the NCAA era, leading 6-4 with two contests ending in draws, but is searching for their first win since 2019 after defeating the Panthers four years in row. The Cardinals lead the series 4-3 with Southwest Baptist and have split the last four meeting, falling last season 1-0 after a dramatic 2-1 win in the spring of 2021.  Â

The Cardinals are looking to bounce back after a 2-0 loss at the hands of Rockhurst last weekend. The Hawks scored an early penalty kick and added an additional score late. Jewell had big opportunities late in the opening half but couldn't convert.  Â

- The Cardinal keepers have faced 93 shots thus far this season with 37 saves for an average of of 7.40 per game which ranks first in the GLVC and 15th nationally.
- Corrine Hughes is tops in the conference with four total goals, 0.80 goals per game and 1.80 points per game. The senior leads Jewell nine points on the season.Â
- The offense is on pace to surpass production from a year ago, already totaling six goals, 58 shots and 30 shots on goal after having 10, 115, and 40, respectively all of last season.Â
- Katie Wagenheim tied her career high for the second time last week, collecting 13 saves against Rockhurst.Â
50 Years of Women's Varsity Sports
The 2022-2023 academic year marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX and the 50th year of women's varsity sports of the William Jewell campus. The five original teams included basketball, volleyball, swimming, tennis and field hockey while women's soccer joined the department in 1990. Jewell will be celebrating the growth and accomplishments of women's athletics throughout the year, headlined by an all-women's Hall of Fame class, to be inducted on September 23 which includes the 2010 women's soccer team.Â
