Women's Soccer Posts 3-3 Draw with Southwest Baptist

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's soccer team rallied from down two goals to earn a 3-3 draw on Sunday against Southwest Baptist. The Cardinals move to 1-5-1 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bearcats wasted little time jumping out in front with a penalty kick goal in the 16th minute followed by a sliding score less than 10 minutes later to open up a 2-0 lead. 
  • Riley Frasure-Smith got Jewell on the board in the 28th minute with a goal from nearly 20 yards out. 
  • Frasure-Smith was the recipient of another feed from Kate Lawrence just over 12 minutes later, scoring from 20 yards out on the right side to make it a 2-2 game at the break. 
  • In the 68th minute Corrine Hughes was fouled in the box and converted the penalty kick to give the Cardinals the lead.
  • Down to the final moments, Southwest Baptist got a deflection off a Jewell defender directly to Brooke Clark who shot and scored from 15 yards out to tie the game.

  • Jewell out shot the Bearcats 18-17 with seven on goal. 
  • Frasure-Smith scored the first two goals of her career while Hughes got her fifth score of the season.
