Two Second Half Goals Lead to Draw with Miners

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team finished in a 2-2 draw with Missouri S&T on Sunday afternoon to move to 2-1-2 on the year. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Miners took the early lead with a goal in the 17th minute as Jason Jorgensen scored from five yards out. 
  • In the second half, Cole Bulgren sent a pass up through the middle to Carson Lee who broke free on the left and scored with a straight shot from 15 yards out to knot the score at one apiece.
  • In the 69th minute Sam Wambold weaved through three defenders on the right side and sent a shot from 30 yards into the back of the net for his first career goal and put the Cardinals in front. 
  • After Jose Arellano made four key saves over the next 20 minutes, with less than 15 seconds remaining the Miners used a throw in to the middle of the box as Caden Archer snuck one past the defense to tie the game and end in a draw. 

KEY STATS
  • Lee and Walker Bond each posted two shots while Bulgren had one assist. 
  • Arellano collected a season best 11 saves.
