CARDINAL NOTES
- The Cardinals are coming off a big road win over Rockhurst on Monday night to sweep the season series with the Hawks and earn another point in the Kansas City Crown standings.Â
- Mason Alexander and Jordan Jermain lit it up from beyond the three point line at Rockhurst, combining to go 10-of-17 and score 45 of Jewell's 79 points. The duo have been a lethal combination for three years and enter the week among the top-10 in the GLVC with 2.82 and 2.47 three point field goals per game. As a team, the Cardinals average 8.5 per outing while shooting nearly 38%.Â
- Kobe McKinley is closing in on multiple milestones this week. The senior is seven points from 700 for his career after averaging 10.7 points per game this winter. Additionally, after picking up 12 steals over the last five games he is now just one from 100 takeaways, the second most by any of the active players.Â
- The defense has turned up a notch since the start of conference play, allowing opponents just 63.9 points per game, just six-tenths behind UIndy. Additionally, the Cardinals permit opposing teams to shoot, less than 32% from three and 41% from the field, both also second in the GLVC.Â
- Isaac Patterson scored nine points against Rockhurst on two three pointers and three free throws (fouled on a three point attempt). The sophomore has come off the bench in all 17 games, averaging a key 4.5 points and is ranked ninth in the conference shooting better than 47% from three.Â
- It will be a family reunion on Thursday for junior Grant Stubbs as his younger brother Luke is a freshman on the Drury men's basketball team. The pair will have to wait until next season to face off on the court as the younger Stubbs is expected to redshirt this year for the Panthers. The elder brother comes into the week shooting nearly 51% from the field to lead the Cardinals and rank 13th among GLVC players.
