ROLLA, Mo. - The William Jewell football team dropped a 57-20 decision on the road on Saturday at Missouri S&T to fall to 2-6 on the season and 1-4 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Missouri S&T got multiple big runs in the opening quarter that led to an early 12-0 lead.
• On what have been a punt, the Cardinals got a break with a penalty to restart the drive. Facing a 3rd-and-26, CJ Ward found AJ Austene for an 80-yard catch that set up a two-yard touchdown pass to Deldrionn Amos. 
• The Miners added 21 points in the second quarter to take a 33-6 lead into the break. 
• Late in the third quarter, the Cardinals recovered a fumble on the kick off and Keaundre McCullough followed with a short two-yard touchdown catch to add seven more.
• In the fourth, Jewell again benefited from a special teams miscue on a mishandled snap to gain possession on the 13 yard line. Layne Cavanah converted with a three-yard reception. 
• Missouri S&T added an additional touchdown to the bring the score to the final of 57-20.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Austene led the offense with 80 yards on one catch while McCullough added 11 through the air and 20 on the ground. 
• Sean Mitchell picked up seven tackles with Preston Snead had one sack.
