INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - William Jewell sophomore middle blocker
Alex Dvorak has been selected as the final Molten Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the 2023 season, the league announced on Monday.
The Parkville, Missouri native put up a career high 11 blocks for an average of 2.2 per set in the Cardinals season finale on Friday night where they upset No. 23 ranked Rockhurst, 3-2. Jewell rallied to force set five which ended 26-24 to mark the first win over the Hawks since 2011 and win the KC Crown point. Dvorak added 16 kills on a .333 attack percentage for her first double-double of the year.
This is the second Defensive Player of the Week honor of her career, having also received the nod last October. She was also named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week back on September 11.
