Torrent launched into the national rankings last weekend winning the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:03.48, breaking her own school record and moving into the top spot in NCAA-II. She added a win in the 200 meter event at 2:17.95 along with third place in the 200 individual medley (2:09.11) and fourth in the 400 IM (4:37.80) to earn GLVC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honors.

Hartwich was one of 13 Cardinals to punch their ticket to the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals last weekend as Jewell opened the season at home. Competing at 82.5 kilograms in the equipped category, the junior put up 570 total kilos to hit the qualifying mark and take first place in his weight class. He picked up the total with 210 kg in the squat, 132.5 in the bench and 225 kg in the deadlift.
The William Jewell Athletes of the Week recognition is presented by David Starns Insurance Agencies. One men's and one women's student-athlete is selected for performance during the previous week, unless one gender does not compete then two of the same may be selected. Selection is made by the athletic department administration.
