KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team fell 82-50 on Saturday on the road at Rockhurst University to drop to 2-8 on the year and 1-4 in GLVC play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals got off to a strong start, taking an 8-2 lead in the early going after a three from Averi Porter. Another triple, this time by Chloe Frank gave Jewell a four point lead but the Hawks hit one of their own and got an offense rebound put back at the buzzer to take a 14-13 lead after one period. 
• Rockhurst continued their run, going in front by eight with seven minutes to play in the half. Both teams went cold with no point scored for nearly four minutes until an Abigail Jones three cut the deficit to five. The Hawks closed the quarter on a 12-4 run to take a 37-24 lead into the break. 
• Jewell remained within striking distance for much of the third period as a bucket from Kate Hillyer made it 41-30. Rockhurst outscored the Cardinals 41-20 the rest of the way to take the win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Emree Zars led the Cardinals with 11 points and eight rebounds while Frank added 10 points on 3-of-6 from long range. 
• Hillyer finished with seven points while Katie Knock chipped in six to go with four rebounds, three assists and five steals.
