NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Allison Meyer made history on Sunday becoming the first two-time national qualifier in program history for women's wrestling at William Jewell. Just a sophomore, she'll make her second trip to the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 3-4 after winning the true fourth place match at 116.
The top four wrestlers in each weight class advance to the NCWW National Championships with a true fourth place match taking place if the two wrestlers at fourth and fifth have not already met during the regional tournament. Meyer defeated Augustana's Hannah Suboni-Kaufman by decision, 4-1, to secure her spot at nationals.
In total, six Cardinals placed in their respective brackets in one of the toughest regionals in the country, that fielded five nationally ranked teams, including three of the top-five, along with 30 nationally ranked individuals. As a team, the Jewell finished seventh overall with 39.5 team points.
