LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewel baseball team posted a 10-0 shutout of Wayne State College on Sunday afternoon behind a seven inning, two-hit performance from Jake Sawyer on the mound. The Cardinals move to 3-3 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell got on the board early, plating four runs on four hits and two Wildcat errors to take a 4-0 lead after two frames. 
• In the third, the Cardinals added three more as Kaden Owens doubled to left center followed by a sac fly from Ben Click before a throwing error, plated Jake Wilcox to make it 7-0. 
• Owens blasted a solo home run, the first of his career, over the left center field wall in the fifth to add another for the Cardinals. 
• In the bottom of the eighth, Drew Reed reached on an error by the WSC first baseman as Will Brant scored. Dawson Tweet walked off the run-rule victory with a double, scoring Cale Blasi. 

KEY STATS

• Owens finished with three extra base hits, two RBI and three runs scored.
• Wilcox also had three hits and scored twice while Blasi, Tweet and Alex Epp all had a double.  
• Sawyer (1-0) earned the win, working seven strong innings, allowing no runs on just two hits with seven strikeouts.
