LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team pulled out a 1-0 victory on Monday afternoon to take the series over Northern State and move to 4-12 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Payton Totzke got on base early, getting hit by a pitch before stealing second and advancing to third on a ground out. A pop up that should have ended the inning was dropped by the NSU third baseman allowing Totzke to cross the plate for what ended up being the game's only run. 
• The Wolves best chance came in the top of the fifth when they put two runners in scoring position with no outs but three fly outs ended the threat. 

KEY STATS

• Jewell was out-hit 4-1, with Amanda Chung having the Cards only base hit. 
• Sammie Welt (1-3) earned her first win of the year, working all seven frames, allowing just four hits and four walks while striking out three.

Jewell is back on the road on Saturday to open Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Drury University.
