ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team suffered an 18-4 loss at Maryville on Sunday afternoon, dropping to 27-19 on the season and 15-13 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Maryville scored first with a lead off home run in the bottom of the second inning and followed with 14 more runs over the next three frames to open up a 15-0 advantage. 
• Jewell got on the board in the sixth as Will Brant doubled to put two in scoring position for Quincy Aldrich who singled, scoring both. 
• The Saints added three more but the Cardinals did not go quietly, scoring twice more in the top of the seventh on doubles from Drew Reed and Cole Conner but Maryville got a ground out to end the game after seven frames. 

KEY STATS

• Reed and Aldrich led the Cardinals with two hits each while the latter also drove in a pair. 
• Jake Sawyer (4-3) took the loss, allowing five earned over three innings.

The Cardinals close out the regular season next weekend with a four game set against Southwest Baptist at Talley Stadium.
