ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team dropped a 95-64 decision on Thursday at Maryville to fall to 4-12 on the season and 2-8 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals got off to a strong start, winning the first quarter 20-19.Trailing by five early, Jewell got back-to-back triples to close the first period from Ayden Shannon and Katie Knock. 
• Caitlin Behling expanded the lead to three with a bucket but the Saints followed with 20-9 run to go back in front by double digits and take a 46-33 advantage into the locker room. 
• Out of the break, the Cardinals cut the deficit to 10 after threes from Emree Zars and Kate Hillyer. A layup by Libby Arnold with just under three minutes to play in the quarter made it a single digit game for the first time since the opening frame. 
• Maryville outscored the Cardinals 33-16 in the final period to win 95-64. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 

• Shannon led the Cardinals with 23 points while Hillyer and Behling each had 10. 
• Jewell shot 35% from the floor and 10-of-21 from long range, while the Saints connected on 47% from the field.
