KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The William Jewell women's soccer team played the Bulldogs of Truman State University on Sunday, recording a 1-1 draw. It is Jewell's first tie of the year, giving the Cardinals a 3-7-1 regular season record and a 2-5-1 GLVC record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jewell's offense started quickly with three shots on goal in the first 16 minutes with the third shot finding the net when Lux Sands intercepted a pass from the Truman keeper and immediately sent it back past the goalie to give the Cardinals the early 1-0 lead.
- The Cardinals continued to put up shots against the Bulldogs but none would find the net as the teams would go into halftime with Jewell up by one.
- Sands continued to attack the Truman defense, registering three shots with two on goal in the second half.
- In the 73' the Bulldogs scored to tie the game. Late shots from Jessica Baker and Riley Frasure-Smith would not go in as the game would end in the 1-1 draw.
KEY STATS
- Emily Glassman had three saves in 90 minutes in the goal.
- Sands' goal would be her fifth of the year, while leading the team with five shots and three shots on goal.
