Cardinals Hang On For Tie In Bolivar

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The William Jewell women's soccer team tied the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist Friday evening, 3-3. The high-scoring affair gave the Cardinals their second tie in as many games while moving them to a 3-7-2 season record and a 2-5-2 conference mark.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell struck first in the 6' with the Cardinals' first shot of the evening, an assist from Riley Frasure-Smith sent to freshman Dilyn Davies who sent it past the keeper to give Jewell the 1-0 lead.
  • Five minutes later and their next shot, freshman Maddy Follmer set up to the lower left corner and found the back of the net for her first career goal.
  • Jewell continued to send shots towards the Bearcats, including a pair from Kim Munoz and Frasure-Smith, as the teams went into halftime with a 2-0 Jewell lead.
  • Frasure-Smith began the second half continuing to put shots up, in the 56' she found the bottom right corner to give Jewell a 3-1 lead. In the last 12 minutes the Bearcats scored two goals to even the score to 3-3 as Jewell held on for the tie.
 
KEY STATS
  • Emily Glassman got the start, collecting five saves in 80 minutes. Jenna Skeeters played the last 10 minutes in goal, allowing one goal.
  • Frasure-Smith led the charge with three points, with one goal and one assist.
  • Jules Bise played a season-high 56 minutes off the bench. 
 
UP NEXT
Jewell will travel back to the Kansas City metropolitan and face their crosstown rival, the Rockhurst Hawks, on Sunday at noon on the campus of Rockhurst University.
