BOLIVAR, Mo. – The William Jewell men's soccer team got back in the win column with a 1-0 win over Southwest Baptist on Friday afternoon. The one-goal victory puts Jewell at 4-5-3 on the season and 2-5-2 in GLVC action.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Teams were held scoreless in the first half combining for 12 shots and zero goals. Nine shots came from Cardials, including a pair late in the half by senior defensemen Sage Smotherman.
• Three minutes into the second half, Cardinals freshman Giorgios Eleftherio netted his first career goal off of the assist by Walker Bond.
• The Cardinal defense only allowed one shot by Southwest Baptist the remainder of the game as Jewell captured the 1-0 win.

 
KEY STATS

• Goalie Umberto DiCarlo registered two saves.
• Four Cardinals had a shot on goal, Kaleb Fannin, Henry Staebell, Bond, and Eleftherio who scored the lone goal.
• Jewell outshot the Beartcats 17 to 4.
