INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selections for the 2024 football season were announced on Tuesday afternoon. Among the honorees are six William Jewell Cardinals as Adam Callahan (linebacker), Keaundre McCullough (running back), and Sean Mitchell (defensive back) were each named to the All-GLVC First Team while AJ Austene (wide receiver), Jalen Bethany (wide receiver), and Ryan Winn (offensive line) were listed on the Honorable Mention.
Callahan picks up his second career All-Conference honor this fall after leading the conference in league-only contests with 9.8 tackles per game and 78 total, including 53 solos. The senior, who finished with 109 total takedowns on the season, had an NCAA era single game record of 18 against Davenport. In GLVC action, he had four games of double digit tackles while also forcing a fumble against Lincoln and recovering another at Southwest Baptist.
McCullough earns his second All-GLVC honor of his career. Appearing in seven conference games, finishing third in the league with 96 rushing yards per game and 672 total with eight touchdowns. Overall on the season, he totaled 1,262 yards on 220 attempts and 15 scores. He boasted four games of 100-plus yards, led by a GLVC single game record 402 at Fort Lewis.
Mitchell is back on the All-GLVC First Team for the second straight year after totaling 5.3 tackles per game in conference action with 29 solos. He finished with two interceptions, including a pick six in a win over Southwest Baptist. On the season, the senior was third on the team with 53 total tackles while also forcing two fumbles.
Austene earns his first selection to the All-GLVC team after finishing 13th in the league with 48 receiving yards per game and 384 total. He caught three touchdowns in conference play and averaged 11.3 yards per reception. On the year, he led the Cardinals with 490 yards on 42 catches and four touchdowns.
Bethany made 23 catches in GLVC play for an average of 199 receiving yards with four touchdowns, to earn his first career All-Conference honor. For the year, he totaled 352 yards on 31 receptions for an average of 35.20 per game.
Winn grabs the first All-GLVC selection of his career after helping to anchor an offensive line that helped Jewell run for 132.4 yards per game in conference action for 13 touchdowns. In total, the Cardinals ran for more than 1,600 yards and 20 touchdowns, both second most of the NCAA era.
