LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell football team fell 34-0 on Saturday to Truman State University to drop to 4-6 on the season and 2-5 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After holding the Bulldogs to a field goal on the opening drive, a Cardinal fumble on the two yard line was recovered by the visitors to put Truman on top 10-0 after the first quarter.
• The Bulldogs used a 66-yard touchdown run and a 44-yard interception return to score twice more before the half and make it 24-0 at the break.
• Truman added a touchdown in the third and field goal in the fourth to bring the score to the final of 34-0.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Cardinals were limited to 136 yards of total offense, led by Tucker Griffins 40 passing yards.
• Jake Shaffer ran for 33 yards on 10 carries with Logan Williams adding 28 yards on four carries in the fourth quarter.
• AJ caught six passes for 36 yards while Layne Cavanah had a game long 28 yard punt return.
• Eric Ohmer finished with a team high 12 tackles while Adam Callahan added 11.
• Justin Endicott and Derrick Von Hubbard each recorded one sack.

Jewell will close out the 2024 season next Saturday as they host McKendree at 1 p.m. The Cardinals will recognize 16 seniors prior to kick off.
