LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team challenged one of the nation's top teams on Saturday but Drury, who is receiving votes in the national polls, pulled away in the fourth quarter to win 75-56. The Cardinals fall to 5-18 on the year and 3-14 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jewell scored the first two buckets of the game before the Panthers came back with a 15-4 run to take a seven point lead after 10 minutes.
- Kate Hillyer hit back-to-back jumpers to open the second frame and was followed by a three from Ayden Shannon to quickly tie things up at 15. Drury finished the half by outscoring the Cards 20-12 to take a 35-27 lead into the intermission.
- The Panthers pushed their lead to 14 early in the third quarter but Skyler Boylan came off the bench to score two buckets and grab an offensive rebound to spark a Jewell run that pulled the Cardinals back within six, 44-38. A three from Chloe Frank at the buzzer had Jewell within striking distance heading in to the final frame, trailing 53-44.
- Drury outscored the Cardinals 22-12 in the final 10 minutes to pull away and secure their 18th win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Shannon scored a team high 17 points while Hillyer added 14 to go with four rebounds and two assists.
- Emree Zars and Libby Arnold each grabbed a team best five boards.
- The Cardinals were limited to a 33% clip from the floor and just 3-of-21 from long range.
- Jewell forced Drury into 12 turnovers while committing just seven.

The Cardinals round out a three-game home stand next Saturday as they welcome Rockhurst to the Mabee Center for a rematch in the Kansas City Crown series.
