SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - The William Jewell softball fell to St. Cloud State in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon, falling 2-0 and 4-3. The Cardinals drop to 4-6 on the season.
GAME ONE: St. Cloud State 2, Jewell 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Cloud State got on the board early with an RBI single through the left side to score the first run.
- The Huskies grabbed another score with an RBI ground out to push their lead to two.
- Jewell put two on in the bottom of the fourth but three straight outs ended the rally.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Cardinals out hit St. Cloud 6-4, led by two from Sabrina Olmo.
- Avrey Reynolds (2-3) worked all seven frames, allowing earned runs on four hits.
GAME TWO: St. Cloud State 4, Jewell 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Olmo got the Cardinals on the board first in game two with her first career home run. Ella Hoffman added a two run blast in the second frame to put Jewell on top, 3-0.
- In the fourth, St. Cloud State got two back with three hits and a Cardinal error to pull within one.
- The Huskies scored two in the following inning on a two RBI double to take the lead.
- Jewell threatened in the top of the seventh, loading the bases but a ground out ended the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Cardinals finished with seven hits, topped by Lexi Lopez with two.
- Hoffman finished with two RBI while Olmo had one and two intentional walks.
- Olivia Wood (2-1) took the loss, allowing three earned runs over 4.1 innings, with three strikeouts.
