LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team fell by a final of 16-8 to Rockhurst University on Wednesday in their inaugural home game. The Cardinals drop to 2-2 on the season while the Hawks improve to 4-2. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Rockhurst got on the board first with two goals before Jake Wynecoop scored on a feed from Tanner Garcia. Another Wynecoop score with over six to play in the first quarter, pulled the Cardinals with one before RU went on a 5-2 run to open up a 9-5 advantage. 
• Olivier LaPlante scored before providing the assist on a goal by Carson Wright to pull Jewell within 10-7 at the half. 
• The Hawks outscored the Cardinals 5-0 over the next 25-plus minutes before Wright broke the drought with a score late in the fourth quarter but Jewell could get no closer. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Wright led the offense with three goals while Wynecoop added two scores while both had a team high six shots. 
• Zach Johnson had a team high five ground balls and three caused turnovers. 
• Fynn Ziebarth posted 14 saves in goal. 
• Jewell was out shot 53-22.
