QUINCY, Ill. - The William Jewell women's basketball team rallied from down 20 to pull back within single digits but fell 73-60 at Quincy University on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals drop to 5-16 overall and 3-12 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell got off to a slow start offensively, falling into a double digit hole just over two minutes into the game. A three from Ayden Shannon got the Cards back within six but Quincy followed with a 22-8 run to go on top, 35-18. 
• Jewell used the second quarter to go on a 23-11 run to get back within five but a three by the Hawks pushed it back to eight heading into the final period. 
• Kate Hillyer and Bree Shannon combined for the first five points of the fourth quarter to get the Cards back within three, 51-48. Quincy outscored Jewell 21-12 over the final nine minutes to take the win.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Shannon led the Cardinals with 13 points while Hillyer added 10. 
• Emree Zars picked up 10 rebounds with Chloe Frank had six boards and four steals to go with nine points. 
• Jewell shot 37% from the field and 29% from three.

The Cardinals return home on Thursday to host Southwest Baptist at 5:30 p.m. in the Mabee Center.
