LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team played even with Southwest Baptist in the second half on Thursday night, but the Bearcats had jumped out to a fast start on their way to the 100-71 win over the Cardinals who drop to 5-17 on the season and 3-13 in the league. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• SBU hit five first quarter three pointers to open up a quick 25-11 lead and added four more triples in the second period to expand things to a 52-24 advantage at the break.
• The Bearcats pushed things to 31 early in the third quarter before a jumper from Kate Hillyer sparked the Cardinal offense who scored 15 points over the final six minutes. 
• In the final frame, Jewell finally found a rhythm from long range as Chloe Frank hit three triples with Cailtin Behling making two to bring the score to the final.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Behling paced the Cardinals with a career high 21 points, including 8-for-8 from the free throw line, all in the first half to keep Jewell in things. 
• Hillyer added 16 points while Ayden Shannon scored 10. 
• The Cardinals shot 43% from the field but were just 7-of-25 from three with six of those coming in the fourth quarter. 
• Jewell forced 16 turnovers that led to 27 points.
