LIBERTY, Mo. - After dropping game one 7-1, the William Jewell softball team came back to win 2-0 in game two to earn a split with Maryville University on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals move to 19-19 overall and 2-10 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. 

GAME ONE: Maryville 7, Jewell 1 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Maryville scored a single run in each of the first two frames to take an early lead before an Abby Vandiver RBI base hit got Jewell on the board in the second. 
• The Saints added two runs in the fifth and sixth and another in the seventh to win 7-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Vandiver led the offensive with two hits while Amanda Chung scored the Cardinals lone run. 
• Avrey Reynolds (9-9) suffered the loss, tossing six innings, allowing five earned runs. 

GAME TWO: Jewell 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell scored the game's only runs in the bottom of the second inning as Vandiver walked and came around to score on a Sophia Lopez double. With two runners on base, Sabrina Olmo reached on an error that allowed Sydney Cure to cross the plate. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Cardinals finished with five hits from five different players, led by Lopez's RBI double. 
• Olivie Wood (7-5) picked up the complete game shutout, striking out a career high seven batters.

Jewell heads to Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
