Frisbee paced the Jewell track and field teams in the outdoor season opener at the Emporia State Relays last week. The junior broke her own all-time record in the javelin with a throw of 40.32 meters, becoming the first Cardinal woman to crack 40 meters. The mark ranks ranks fifth in the GLVC this season.

Yarbro led the Cardinals to a big 28-2 win last weekend in game two of the series with Southwest Baptist. The redshirt junior went five innings, tying the NCAA era single game strikeout record with a dozen to move to 4-1 on the season.

The William Jewell Athletes of the Week recognition is presented by David Starns Insurance Agencies. One men's and one women's student-athlete is selected for performance during the previous week, unless one gender does not compete then two of the same may be selected. Selection is made by the athletic department administration.
