LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team was handed their first true loss of the season on Friday night, a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the No. 7 McKendree University Bearcats. The first loss drops Jewell to 2-1-2 on the season and 0-1-1 within conference play
HOW IT HAPPENED
- McKendree fired a quick goal five minutes in to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Near the 15' minute mark Jewell would let an errant deflection in the Cardinal's own goal roll in making it a 2-0 Bearcat lead.
- Jewell began to get shots up throughout the first half, including back-to-back shots by Brian Vidal that were both blocked.
- Six minutes into the second half, Jewell's offense came out fast with Walker Bond taking a shot with the keeper out of the goal that would barley stay outside of the pipe to remain at 2-0. Both teams would spend time at the other's goal, but neither team was able to punch it in.
KEY STATS
- Umberto DiCarlo had three saves on the four Bearcat shots on goal
- Jewell would outshoot McKendree, nine to eight.
